Amaterasu is a prominent figure in Japanese mythology and folklore, known as the goddess of the sun and sky. The name Amaterasu means "shining in heaven" and describes her radiant and dazzling appearance. She is often depicted holding a mirror, which symbolizes self-reflection and enlightenment. According to legend, Amaterasu fled to a cave after a feud with her brother caused chaos and destruction. The other gods and goddesses tried to coax her out, but it was not until they staged a raucous dance and one goddess exposed her breasts that Amaterasu emerged, curious and distracted. Her return brought light back to the world, and her power has been celebrated ever since. Many people believe that she helps bring prosperity and growth to their lives.

Divine intervention is the involvement (intervention) of a deity (divine) in the affairs of humans. Its form can be direct, such as the actual visual or auditory manifestation of a deity to humans, and indirect, such as a deity’s influence on the weather.
